Talking about ready to be deployed chatbots, do we all know what a chatbot is?
I guess most of us does, but a few of us, lets say who are starting a project, may be a professional or just a learning one, might still be confused what a chatbot actually is. So lets start with the basics, we will discuss all about the chatbots, what are these, what are the benefits of using chatbots and what are some of the quick ways one can follow to get the chatbots, up and running, really really quick.

This being the first blog of the series, let me tell you something about myself first, I am Dhruv Bhardwaj, a self taught web developer, who also got fortunate enough to have worked with the chatbots in the past.

So, enough about me, now let’s get back to the topic in hand, that is, what are chatbots.

So, when we google about what are chatbots, we get
A chatbot is a software application used to conduct an on-line chat conversation via text or text-to-speech, in lieu of providing direct contact with a live human agent. A chatbot is a type of software that can automate conversations and interact with people through messaging platforms.

That in fact is pretty accurate and on point, but let’s simplify it. A chatbot is a software application, or a piece of code, a simple program, that is hosted over some platform, or some network. It is programmed to interact with the human beings, and this piece of code, tries to mimic a human being itself.

Now a clarification is needed over here, mimicking a human being does not necessarily means that the code has to have artificial intelligence, it can be a simple piece of code working with ifs and else. Though the AI part will definitely improve the quality of the product and the code, both. But people have to understand it is just an upgrade to the product, not a prerequisite for the code.

So, I guess, now you know what a basic chatbot is. In the next part we will discuss about what are the advantages of using chatbots, and what is the scope for this field, definitely infinite, but let’s discuss it in the next part.

P.S. Feel free to comment and discuss things in the comment section.
